Quality control is critical in the student accommodation sector. As an industry and wider community, it’s important we recognise the value of accommodation provided for the exclusive use of students to support and enhance the education experience in Australia.
A recent Enhancing the Design Quality of Purpose-Built Student Accommodation report by the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) demonstrates why purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) providers, education providers and governments all share an interest in developing and promoting a common set of expectations for student accommodation. “Design quality in PBSA will support the experience of students living and studying in Australian cities, as well as contribute long-term to the quality and resilience of the built environment more broadly.”
With these goals in mind, the Student Accommodation Association (SAA) is launching the National Property Accreditation Scheme (NPAS). The new NPAS initiative aims to identify individual properties operated to industry-led minimum standards for the exclusive use of students with a focus on student safety and wellbeing.
NPAS is the stamp of quality for accommodation provided for the exclusive use of students.
To learn more about the essential role of this program, you’re invited to join us at one of the NPAS networking events for SAA members to be held in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
