The Student Accommodation Association brings together education and accommodation providers to promote the value and quality of student accommodation.SAA believes the National Property Accreditation Scheme (NPAS) provides an established and immediate platform for universities to demonstrate access to safe, high-quality student accommodation. This is a critical requirement when applying to increase their individual higher education allocations.By embracing the NPAS accommodation message and promoting NPAS accredited student accommodation aligned to their campus operations, universities can show immediate access to safe, secure, and student-exclusive housing. This strengthens the student experience for both domestic and international cohorts now and into the future. For more information about the National Property Accreditation Scheme (NPAS), please visit https://npas.org.au/

The Student Accommodation Association (SAA) was delighted to host our Industry Lunch in Victoria earlier this year.Bringing together leaders from the student accommodation, education, and government sectors, the event offered a platform for rich discussion and sector-wide collaboration centred around one shared vision of elevating the international student experience through high-quality accommodation.Guests heard keynote presentations from: Tim Glass, State Manager – Victoria, Scape Australia, who shared how NPAS accreditation has strengthened brand trust and enhanced the student experience. Scape’s journey exemplifies how aligning with a national quality framework can deliver tangible, long-term benefits for students and providers alike.

Our panel discussion, facilitated by Robert Chasse (Scape, SAA Committee Member), explored a central question: Does the education ecosystem truly understand the value of the residential experience? With contributions from our speakers and Geoff Denison, SAA President, the session unpacked how quality accommodation is not just a place to live but a key contributor to student belonging and success. We extend our sincere thanks to all speakers, sponsors, and attendees who contributed to this important dialogue.Together, we are raising the standard and shaping a stronger, more supportive student accommodation sector in Australia.

The Student Accommodation Association (SAA) was pleased to host the inaugural national meeting of student accommodation associations in Sydney on 5 May 2025.
The full day program brought together members of the executive teams from University Colleges Australia (UCA), APSAA - Asia-Pacific Student Accommodation Association and the Student Accommodation Association (SAA).
As representatives of the associations that support and represent all varieties of student accommodation and college offerings to both domestic and international students, it was fantastic to learn from each other about our shared opportunities and challenges.
We came to agreement that while our associations have different, but clear and defined purposes, we are driven by a shared mission to assist our members to continuously enhance the residential experience, keep our student communities safe and maintain a strong focus on resident wellbeing.
The Student Accommodation Association believes there is significant value in working together to amplify the sector's voice during this pivotal time, and we look forward to continuing to work on behalf of our members with our colleagues from UCA and APSAA.
The Student Accommodation Association (SAA) was pleased to bring members together in Sydney last Tuesday, 6 May, for a dedicated day of industry engagement.

Iori Forsyth spoke about the importance of quality housing to NSW’s international education sector and, more specifically, Study NSW’s commitment to supporting the sector to promote quality student accommodation to international students in the state.
Clinton Ostwald shared recent benchmarking data on bed supply, room mix, and pricing across the sector, and
Gregory Vaughton introduced Dwell's new student accommodation project coming soon to Macquarie Park.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and special thanks to our supporters CONSTANT, StarRez, Inc., SiLANT, Study NSW, and the team at SAA HQ Karen Goodall, and Geoff Denison.
