Michael Mu and Hannah Soong, sociologists of education at the University of South Australia. Their research explores international students’ study choices and experiences in the face of global policy shifts. Their recent longitudinal study on international student housing experiences in South Australia has attracted national attention, highlighting the crucial role accommodation plays in building resilience, wellbeing, and a sense of community for students studying abroad. Supported by UniSA, Bupa, City of Adelaide, and the China Scholarship Council, their work underscores the positive spillover effects of student housing on overall student success.
