Yesterday’s Student Accommodation Association (SAA) event, held in collaboration with Study NSW in Sydney, was a fantastic gathering of industry peers and a perfect way to wrap up the year!
A big thank you to Katie Hanna from Study NSW for sharing how they’re partnering with the sector on the provision of quality accommodation for international students in NSW. Katie’s insights into the role of PBSA and student accommodation in shaping the future of the government’s housing strategy were spot on!
Another highlight was Ron De Haan GAICD's practical session, taking attendees through the National Property Accreditation Scheme (NPAS) application process.
This was followed by a panel discussion about the challenges and opportunities in balancing affordability, quality, and sustainable growth in NSW’s student accommodation sector. Our speakers were then joined by Robert Chasse from Scape, who added valuable perspectives on building strong partnerships and driving growth in the student accommodation industry. Together, they provided a wealth of knowledge and actionable ideas for attendees to take back to their organisations.
Key Highlilghts:
- The NPAS portfolio continues to grow, solidifying its position as a benchmark for quality student accommodation in Australia.
- More than 20 properties are now accredited across Australia under the NPAS program, reflecting the sector's commitment to providing excellent student experience. Check out the full list of accredited properties here.
- NPAS is recognised in the Australian Government Department of Education's Guide for Supporting International Students with Accommodation as a standard for promoting quality and regulated student housing. The guide encourages education providers to refer students to accommodation options that meet regulated standards or have quality assurance, highlighting NPAS as a key example. View the guide here.
A heartfelt thank you to all our speakers and attendees, as well as our amazing sponsors Study NSW, StarRez, Inc., CONSTANT and SiLANT for making this event such a success.
